The 2008 annual meeting of Verendrye Electric Cooperative is scheduled for Thursday, June 5th, 2008 at the North Dakota State Fair Center in Minot.

3:30 Registration Opens, Display Booths Open, Petting Zoo, Air Castle

4:30-6:30 Complimentary Meatball Dinner catered by Royal Fork

5:45-6:30 Entertainment, Courtney Joy Smith from Stanley ND

6:30-8:30 Kids Entertainment, Magic Touch presents a show for kids, Other games

6:30 Call to Order, Keynote Speaker, US Secretary of Agriculture, Ed Schafer (invited)

8:30 Adjournment and Door Prize Drawing

What does your annual meeting offer?

In general, it includes being "paid" (in the form of a capital credit check) to enjoy a free evening that includes dinner, entertainment and prizes. There's more cash to be had, including drawings for the $50 and $100 early bird prizes. The best prize, of course, is the $3,000 cash award, drawn from among the names of the general membership at the evening's conclusion. If the winner isn't present, a second drawing is held of those in attendance and some lucky winner goes home with $500 cash.

Talented Stanley vocalist Courtney Smith will performat 5:45 p.m. Courtney, 11, has already recorded two CDs. She and her twin sister, Taylor, are North Dakota Ambassadors for the March of Dimes. They were born prematurely and facedmany medical challenges. Courtney lost her vision.

Other entertainment includes numerous booths featuring handmade crafts and other items being sold by VEC consumers. At the member services booth, you'll find displays on electric technologies and staff eager to answer questions about how to improve your home or business electrical options.

Register for the many prizes being given away. A petting zoo, games with prizes, a magic show, clown and other activities will keep children and grandchildren happy and busy. There are prizes especially for kids, too-like a bicycle!

Eating good food! Meatballs,mashed potatoes, gravy, corn and rolls accompanied by milk and coffee make amighty good meal. Kids usually like the ice cream desserts best.
