Operation Round Up brings Hoops to Citizens Alley
The public can now play basketball at the new Citizens Alley in Minot thanks to a grant from Verendrye’s Operation Round Up grant program.
Local Motives, the non-profit organization that operates Citizens Alley, was awarded a $2,000 grant for a basketball hoop in January and the new hoop was placed there in July. Citizens Alley opened this summer and is located near Central Avenue and First Street in downtown Minot. It is designed as a community hub for family friendly events year round.
The space features artificial turf, a basketball hoop and a pickleball court. There is public art, areas for musicians to perform and a screen for movies. In the winter the space features ice skating and curling. This summer Citizens Alley hosted several free concerts. For a schedule of events, look for the Citizens Alley on Facebook.
Operation Round Up is a program where members voluntarily round their bills to the nearest dollar and they money is used for charities, community facilities, first responders, schools and more.
